The math, explained — built by a derivatives quant.

Crypto Profit Calculator

Calculate the real profit and loss of a round-trip crypto trade — buy then sell — after exchange trading fees on both legs, plus your ROI and the sell price you need just to break even.

How it works

Enter your buy price, sell price and quantity, then the percentage trading fee charged on each leg (most exchanges quote a maker/taker fee like 0.1%). The calculator charges the buy fee on what you spend and the sell fee on what you receive, then reports the figures that actually matter: net profit after all fees, ROI on your total cost, and the break-even sell price.

Net profit is your net sale proceeds minus your total cost (purchase plus buy fee). The break-even sell price is the price at which your net proceeds exactly equal your total cost — sell above it and you profit, below it and you take a loss once fees are counted. Fees are charged as a percentage of each leg, and there is no tax or slippage modelled.

Worked example

Buy 1 coin at $100 with a 0.1% buy fee, then sell it at $200 with a 0.1% sell fee:

  • Buy cost = $100 × 1 = $100; buy fee = $100 × 0.1% = $0.10 → total cost = $100.10.
  • Sell value = $200 × 1 = $200; sell fee = $200 × 0.1% = $0.20 → net proceeds = $199.80.
  • Total fees = $0.10 + $0.20 = $0.30; gross profit = $200 − $100 = $100.
  • Net profit = $199.80 − $100.10 = $99.70; ROI = $99.70 / $100.10 = 99.60%.
  • Break-even sell price = $100.10 / (1 × 0.999) = $100.20.

The formula

total_cost      = buy_price × quantity × (1 + buy_fee_pct)
net_proceeds    = sell_price × quantity × (1 − sell_fee_pct)
gross_profit    = (sell_price − buy_price) × quantity
total_fees      = buy_price × quantity × buy_fee_pct
                + sell_price × quantity × sell_fee_pct
net_profit      = net_proceeds − total_cost
roi             = net_profit / total_cost
breakeven_price = total_cost / (quantity × (1 − sell_fee_pct))

FAQ

Does this include exchange trading fees?
Yes — enter a percentage fee for the buy and the sell leg. The buy fee is charged on what you spend and the sell fee on what you receive, so the net profit and ROI are after all trading fees.
What is the break-even sell price?
It's the sell price at which your net proceeds exactly equal your total cost, so net profit is zero. Selling above it earns a profit; below it is a loss once fees are counted.
Does it account for tax?
No. It models trading fees only, not capital-gains tax or slippage. Treat the result as a pre-tax estimate, not tax advice.
